THE FEAR FACTOR

A  tourist visited a place where elephants were trained, confused by the fact that each of these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

THE MIRACLES IN MISTAKES

I believe one of the major reasons why the traditional system of education has not change is because it was designed not to change. The system hates mistakes. In the world of education the more mistakes a person makes the less intelligent that person is thought to be.
The problem with such believes is that it does not translate to real world application. Infact what we see is the paradox. Most  highly celebrated students adored with high IQ in schools becomes morons in the real world once they leave the traditional school system. When measured side by side with their low IQ pairs after some years these guys with  High IQ end up in financial ruins, poor marriages, a low problem solving skills. At best most end up average in handling real life issues.

THE COBWEB

A prayer group had a senior leader who used to repeat a particular prayer point in every gathering to worship, “Oh God, remove all the cobwebs entangling my life.” One day, one of the group members tired of hearing this repeated request, prayed aloud, “Lord, our leader has been praying every day to get this cobwebs removed. Kindly grant him the strength to kill the spider that is causing this constant trouble!” And all other members with great applaud  enjoined and said the prayer.

Man has an inherent inclination to sin. Satan skilfully exploits this tendency to draw us towards sin again and again. Bondage, ignorance and self condemnation to certain things and attitudes may be the driving force that leads us to a sin repeatedly. The knowledge and determination to remove the root cause of the sin is the best way to escape from a temptation.

Moral
In this case, killing of the spider is the surest way to avoid cobwebs.
In addition, believers should concentrate more on the crave to please God rather than constant battling against sin which brings about self condemnation before God.

SELF ABANDONMENT

A Greek king, once led his troops across a hot, arid desert. After nearly two weeks of marching, he and his soldiers were near death from thirst, yet the king pushed ahead.
At a time when the sun was so intense and became unbearable, two of his scouts brought out little water they were able to find. It barely filled a cup. The king's troops were shocked at the king's reaction when he poured the water into the burning sand.
He  said, "It is of no use for one to drink when many thirst."
Moral
When we truly believe in the potential of people, they rarely disappoint us. That is one of the messages of Max DePree, in his perceptive book, "Leadership is an Art." He recommends becoming "abandoned to the strength of others -- of admitting that we cannot know or do everything."
Treat your associates as partners, not subordinates

WHY CERTAIN THINGS SEEM THE WAY THEY ARE

There was once a King who had a male servant who, in all circumstances always said to master; "My king, do not be discouraged, it is well, God have his reasons why certain things seem the way they are." One day, they went hunting and a wild animal attacked the king, the servant managed to kill the animal but couldn't prevent his majesty from losing a finger. Furious and without showing gratitude, the King said; if God is really good as he claims, I would not have been attacked and lost one finger. The servant replied, ' My lord, it is well, despite what has happened God is good and he has reasons why certain things seem the way they are." Outraged by the response, the king ordered the maid to be locked in his prison yard. While being taken to prison, he humbly repeated it to the king.
Another day, the king left alone for another hunt and was captured by savages who use human beings for sacrifice. On the altar of sacrifice, the savages found out that the king had lost one finger, and was considered not "complete" to be offered to their gods. with this he was released. On his return to the palace, he ordered the release of his servant and said; My friend, God was really good to me. I was almost killed but for lack of a single finger, I was let go. But I have a question; If God is so good, why did He allow me to put you in prison? His servant replied; My king, if I had not been put in prison, I would have gone with you, and would have been sacrificed in your stead, because I have no missing finger. Everything God does is perfect, indeed, he has his reasons why certain thing are the way they are.

Moral
If at all you've lost anything, God is the reason you've not lost every thing.
let's cultivate an attitude of gratitude so we can scale altitude.

HOLE IN THE FENCE

A little boy grew up with his father and mother in the village. He was the only son. He makes the parents feel depressed due to his bad temper which he never accepted he had. The little boy used to get angry unnecessarily and taunt others with his words. His bad temper made him speak unruly words to people whether children or adult even without having any remorse. These traits invited all worries for his parents as reports of his bad manners keep coming to them. While he forgot what he spoke in anger, his friends and neighbors avoided him.
On several occasions his parents had consoled him in many ways to give up his anger and develop kindness  to people but it had fell on deaf ears .
However, one day his father came up with an idea, he gave him a huge bag of nails. He asked his son to hammer one nail to the fence every time he became angry and to lose his temper. The boy seeing his bad attitude to people was really becoming a concern, accepted to do what his father said.
The nails drove him to hammer in the fence for 20 times on the first day! Every time he lost his temper, he ran to the fence and hammered a nail. In the next few days, the number of nails hammered on the fence was reduced to half. with this task, he controlled his temper gradually as he found it very difficult to hammer the nails.
Gradually, the number of nails hammered to the fence was reduced and the day arrived when no nail was hammered! Yet, the boy did not lose his temper. He told his father that it was several days that he did not hammer any nail and he did not lose his temper!
Now, his father told him to remove the nails every day as he had controlled his anger. Several days passed and the boy was able to pull out most of the nails from the fence. However, there remained a few nails that the boy could not pull out.
When the father asked him about the ones he couldn't pull out, he said he tried but could not get them out.  His father smiled and appreciated his effort. He asked him, pointing to the hole, ‘What do you see there son?’
‘ holes in the fence!’   The boy replied.
He told the boy, “The nails were your bad temper and they were hammered on people. Though to an extent, you can remove the nails but still see the holes in the fence . Again, you cannot pull out a few nails. This is to tell you that if you stab a man with a knife, the wound scar will remain there forever. Your bad temper and anger were like that! Words are more painful than physical abuse! learn to use them for good. Use them to embrace the relationships. Use them to show your heart! Use them to praise and not to hurt”
Morals;
Our words has the capacity to make or mar; remember, God spoke the word and they become what they are. And we are made in his likeness...
Inappropriate verbal usage would cause permanent marks than physical damage!
Let our Words be kind and good to others.

TRUE WEALTH

A very rich and wealthy man in a big town  once took his son on a trip,he wanted to show off to his son how rich his father was and how he made him very proud and more so to see how poor people who are not opportune live. They visited a farmer and spent time on their farm and environment. After much of the day's sight seeing, they decided to take their leaf.
On their way home, the father asked, "Did you see how poor they are? What did you learn from this short trip son?". Son kept mute for a while and later said, "We have one dog, they have four, we have a pool, they have rivers, we have lights sparkling at night, they have stars,We are served by servants, but they serve people. We are protected by huge and strong walls around our property, but they bond with each other and surround themselves.  we buy our food, they grow theirs, we have walls to protect us, they have friends, we have encyclopedias, they have The Bible." The son said, "Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are, i never knew"

 MORAL LESSON:

True wealth is not all about piling up treasures.  It is in the friendship, relationship and good compassion we share with the others and most importantly, having God in our life's.
